I don’t live near a Tesla location. How can I buy a used Tesla?
Used Tesla cars are available for pickup at the following Tesla locations. Tesla can also ship your vehicle to your local delivery center (accompanied by a non-refundable fee between $500 and $2,500 based on the length of your shipment and paid at time of order). Based on where you plan to register the car, delivery may not be available in certain regions.

No. All used Tesla pricing is non-negotiable.

Is my order deposit refundable?
No. The $500 order deposit is non-refundable after the order is placed. If you take delivery, the deposit will be applied towards the cost of your vehicle.

Which versions of Autopilot can I find in used inventory?
All used vehicles with Autopilot hardware will come with one of the versions below. A Used Vehicle Advisor can provide more information.
- Autopilot with Convenience Features: Enables Traffic-Aware Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning and Lane Departure Avoidance.
* This version cannot be upgraded to Full Self-Driving. - Standard Autopilot: Enables Emergency Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, Autosteer, Automatic Emergency Braking and Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance.
* This version can be upgraded to Full Self-Driving at current market price. - Full Self-Driving: Enables Navigate on Autopilot to allow automatic driving from highway on-ramp to off-ramp, Auto Lane Change to automatically change lanes while driving on highway, Autopark in both parallel and perpendicular spaces and Summon.
* As these self-driving features evolve, your car will be continuously upgraded through over-the-air software updates.
What type of connectivity will my used Tesla come with?
All used Tesla cars purchased on or before January 8, 2020 will continue to have Premium Connectivity at no cost for the lifetime of the car, and will be active for future owners if sold privately.
All used Tesla cars purchased on or after January 9, 2020 will receive Standard Connectivity and are eligible to upgrade to Premium Connectivity. A 30-Day trial of Premium Connectivity is provided on delivery and can be upgraded to Premium Connectivity from the Tesla Account.

Can I test drive a used car?
We recommend scheduling a test drive at your local Tesla store. If your local store has used vehicles available for a test drive, a Tesla Advisor can assist you in scheduling an appointment. Please note that since used vehicles are available for purchase online, we cannot guarantee the availability of a particular vehicle for your test drive appointment.

What features are included with the Infotainment Upgrade?
If your vehicle comes equipped with an upgraded Infotainment System, your touchscreen will be more responsive and smoother, rendering images and web pages faster. You’ll also gain additional features that enhance both the entertainment and functionality of your car.
Please note that some audio and music features will be removed from your car as a result of this change and can be reviewed below.

How can I pay for my used Tesla?
You can pay for your used Tesla through Tesla Financing, third-party financing or via cash payment (ACH or cashier’s check). You can make ACH payments directly from your Tesla Account. We suggest starting your third-party financing inquiries prior to viewing inventory, to best understand rates and down payment requirements. Used Tesla cars cannot be leased.
Note: Tesla cannot accept credit cards for vehicle payment.

What can I do to prepare for delivery?
Prior to your delivery appointment, you must submit all trade-in information, a copy of your driver’s license, proof of insurance and proof of financial approval (if applicable).
Your Tesla Account will guide you through necessary tasks. Once these steps are complete, you will be ready for your scheduled pickup.

What can I expect for delivery timing?
Delivery timing estimates are displayed when placing an order on a used vehicle. A Tesla representative will contact you to provide information on final delivery timing as soon as it is available.

If I pick up a car in another state, are there tax or registration implications?
If you are picking up your Tesla in another state, Tesla will be able to register the car for you in your home state in most situations. You may be liable for additional sales tax charges outside of your state’s tax rate depending on the pickup location. If you ship a used Tesla to your local delivery center, you will only be responsible for your local sales tax.

What open recalls apply to a used Tesla?
Used cars may be sold with open recalls requiring future repairs. Repairs can be addressed during ownership by making a service appointment at a Tesla Service Center. Check if a particular VIN is affected by a recall.

What condition can I expect my car to be in at delivery?
Every used Tesla has passed an internal inspection and may undergo light repairs to be prepared for sale. Expect your used Tesla to have cosmetic wear consistent with a used vehicle upon delivery. Normal wear and tear indicative of the age and mileage of the car should be expected.
Mechanical Condition
Every used Tesla meets or exceeds Tesla’s Mechanical Standards as outlined below:
- No evidence of structural repairs
- Tires (5/32" minimum)
- Brake pads (6 mm minimum)

Cosmetic Condition
Cosmetic wear and tear is typical of a used car and does not affect the functionality of the car. Your car will exhibit cosmetic wear and tear that includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Exterior Painted Panels – Doors, hood, liftgate, front fenders, rear quarter panels, bumpers
- Scratches up to 1”
- Scuff/scrape or dents up to 0.5”
- Rock chips
Interior Painted Panels – under hood, under liftgate, door jambs
- Scratches, scuff/scrape or dents up to 2”
Unpainted Panels or Exterior Trim
- Scratches up to 3”
Glass
- Pitting on windshield
- Up to 6” surface scratches
Wheels
- Rash up to 0.5”
Interior
- Signs of usage on upholstery and interior panels such as markings, discoloration, small tears or stains up to 1”
